Prelom d.o.o.

Prelom d.o.o. is a company based in Ljubljana, specializing in printing, web services, and graphic design. With a 19-year tradition, they offer comprehensive solutions to clients all in one place. Their printing services range from digital, offset, and large-format printing to printing on T-shirts and promotional materials. They also produce business cards, brochures, posters, and other marketing materials. Graphic design is another key service they offer, including logo design, visual identities, packaging, flyers, and other marketing materials. We spoke with the company's director, Mr. Luka Lebar.

How long have you been involved in printing, and how did you start? How large is your team?

We have been in the printing business since 2003, and today our team has ten employees. Our beginnings were spontaneous; we initially only focused on design and didn’t own our own printer or other equipment. We developed what we needed over time, adapting to various client needs. Not wanting to rely on external providers, we purchased our first printer. We aimed to create as much as possible "in-house" so that clients could receive their products as quickly as possible. This approach worked well, so we decided to equip the company with everything necessary for our work. Today, it's important that clients receive high-quality products as quickly as possible.

What types of printed materials do you prepare, and on which media? Do you offer other services besides printing?

We produce a wide range of products, printing on various materials, creating business cards, leaflets, flyers, signs, and diverse cut shapes, as well as books, envelopes, boxes, labels, paper, and PVC stickers, and large-format prints. We also offer design services for printed materials, logo creation, complete graphic identities, conceptual solutions, and material recommendations, and sometimes we even illustrate books. We have a team of four diligent graphic designers. Additionally, we print on promotional materials (USB sticks, pens, umbrellas, lanyards, etc.), and recently the segment of textile printing (T-shirts, bags, backpacks) has been growing. We also create websites and online stores as an important addition to our offerings.

What types of clients do you have, and what materials and print volumes do they typically choose?

We have a wide range of clients, from large to small businesses. Each client deserves the same level of service. We print a lot on various types of paper, from business cards and leaflets to cards and booklets, with many clients opting for small print runs to allow for frequent updates or content changes. However, we also handle larger volumes.

What machines for digital printing do you have, and how has your equipment evolved?

We print and finish almost everything in-house. We currently have a solvent printer and a Xerox machine for black-and-white printing, as well as a transfer printing device. Our latest acquisition is a six-color Fujifilm Revoria Press PC1120 digital printer, which uses six colors in a single pass: a base color + the four-color CMYK spectrum + a top color. We can use silver, gold, white, pink, and transparent colors to create metallic effects and more. Trusting Fujifilm’s technology and their official partner Uni-Biro, we became the first in Slovenia to invest in this machine, which allows us to keep up with trends in digital printing and provide added value. For finishing, we have a paper cutter, Summa cutter, folding machine, creaser, booklet maker, and press.

What printing techniques do you use most often?

We primarily use digital printing machines for sheet-fed printing on paper, solvent printing for stickers and posters, and DTF printing for transfers on various media (T-shirts, bags, jackets, etc.).

When and why did you decide to purchase the Fujifilm Revoria Press PC1120?

Five years ago, we had a similar machine with an additional color (lacquer) but later replaced it with a Xerox. We’ve wanted to offer our clients a higher level of print quality with colors like gold, silver, white, neon pink, and neon orange. Before Fujifilm, we aimed to acquire a machine that could offer all this, but it was financially out of reach. About three years ago, I began asking Mr. Matej Meterc (Uni-Biro d.o.o.) when Fujifilm's production printers, known for high standards of quality, would enter our market. Fujifilm’s focus on quality materials and parts made this the right choice, and today, we are proud owners of the Revoria Press PC1120. Its print quality surpasses competing machines in its class, and the additional colors allow us to fulfill new ideas and gain a competitive advantage.

Have you received additional training for the new Revoria Press PC1120 production device?

We did receive additional training, though our previous experience with a similar printer five years ago was helpful. Fiery has a great interface with many features, but training and hands-on experience are essential. We learn most effectively through practical examples, though some materials are often discarded before mastering the necessary steps and quality standards. We can always rely on the expertise of Uni-Biro, whose certified specialists ensure the highest service standards.

What practical advantages of the Revoria Press PC1120 do you already notice?

The Fujifilm Revoria Press PC1120 has many competitive advantages. Print stability and even coverage on media are superior, and its quality exceeds that of other printers. We especially appreciate the additional specialty colors that add value for our clients. An important feature is printing on colored paper with solid white coverage, allowing, for example, business cards on black paper with white, silver, or gold text. The printer can use six colors in a single pass, combining basic CMYK with two specialty colors to achieve vibrant shades and metallic tones.

When do you expect the investment to pay off? Will this machine increase your business? Can you offer new products or services?

Our calculation (and hope) is that the investment will pay off within five to six years. This printer has allowed us to elevate print quality. We believe that specialty colors like gold, silver, pink, and white increase our workload and offer unique products. White ink lets us print on colored paper and transparent stickers, while we see silver as having the greatest potential. It combines with CMYK to produce various metallic shades. We’ve already created several products with these specialty colors to show clients, and the feedback has been very positive.

How long have you worked with Uni-Biro, and how is the partnership?

We have worked with Uni-Biro since 2006, navigating changes and equipment upgrades together. They have never let us down, and this partnership is a source of pride. Even when Xerox faced quality issues, Uni-Biro addressed and resolved them at their expense, which is the essence of partnership. They respond quickly to service needs and, when possible, solve issues remotely. Everything is a matter of agreement and trust.

Do you use software that simplifies your work?

We use various software programs for design and print preparation. For our needs, we developed an application for creating quotes, issuing invoices, and managing workflows. It significantly reduces paperwork and ensures order organization. We have everything in digital form, providing quick access to both past and ongoing projects.

In the printing business, quick response times are crucial. What does this mean for you?

Today, everyone wants their product as soon as they order it. We try to accommodate clients almost daily – as quickly as possible. We fit smaller orders between larger ones to maximize customer satisfaction. Quick response time is essential, and Uni-Biro ensures a continuous supply of high-quality original parts and consumables from Fujifilm.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The greatest satisfaction is seeing happy clients. When they receive a product and are pleased, that means everything. Work should be done with joy.

Where do you see the future of digital printing, and how is your company adapting?

I believe digital printing is the future. Print volumes are decreasing, with a growing demand for specialty finishes, unique designs, and frequent style updates.
